Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway officially opens for automatic toll collection

On the morning of July 26, the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay (HLD) Expressway officially launched and put into operation the ETC non-stop electronic toll collection system.

The Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) operates the HLD expressway, a vital transport artery connecting Ho Chi Minh City with the provinces of the Southeast, South Central Coast, and Central Highlands regions. It is essential infrastructure serving the socio-economic development of Southern Vietnam.
The expressway is 55 km long, with traffic volume over the past three months reaching around 55,000 vehicles per day, making it the expressway with the highest traffic volume in Vietnam.

After 45 days of installation, the ETC system on the HLD Expressway now includes 25 ETC lanes at three toll stations—Long Phuoc, National Highway 51, and Dau Giay—using RFID technology approved by the Ministry of Transport and widely adopted in developed countries. Previously, Tasco had already put a fully synchronized ETC system into operation on the Cau Giẽ – Ninh Bình expressway toll plazas.

The introduction of ETC electronic toll collection technology into operation is extremely important, as it helps shorten toll plaza processing times, increasing vehicle throughput by 6–7 times and significantly reducing congestion and waiting at toll booths. According to the plan, VETC will continue to install ETC systems on the Da Nang – Quang Ngai and Noi Bai – Lao Cai expressways on July 28.

To support customers, vehicle owners, and road users with information about government policies and the convenience and modern nature of ETC electronic toll collection, as well as to increase value for users, VEC is organizing the “ETC Tag Installation Day” program along the expressway routes and localities the expressway passes through.
